Broken Open

Broken Open centers on the words Jesus spoke to his disciples at the first Eucharist:

“While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body.'” Matthew 26:26

Just as Jesus blessed and broke the bread at the Last Supper, transforming the plain bread into something special we celebrate today, Jesus continues to bless us and give us for the sake of the world in need of his love.

This annual giving program continues the foundation laid by the One Together program in its use of visual storytelling. However, Broken Open provides congregations with the opportunity to further integrate their own culture and context into the fall stewardship campaigns based around the provided sample letter and pledge card.

There is a wealth of information and help available for leaders to use from other years and we encourage you to use best practices while continuing to utilize what works within your context and strengthening your skills as you use the ministry icon library to choose visual cues to prompt stories of specific impact within your church and outside in the community of neighbors you serve.
