Celebrating What’s Growing
This page will be the evolving home for stories and reflections from across the Pathways to Prayer & Practice initiative. As congregations explore new ways to welcome children in worship, we want to highlight moments of discovery, challenge, creativity, and joy.
Stories may come from:
- Churches participating in current or future Pathways cohorts
- Families finding new ways to engage faith at home
- Clergy and lay leaders experimenting with worship practices
- Diocesan events and gatherings that lift up intergenerational formation
These stories will help others learn, feel connected, and be inspired. They can be short reflections, photo essays, videos, or interviews, whatever brings the work to life.
Starting with These Stories
From Sitting to Belonging: Reimagining Children’s Participation in Worship
In a recent Pathways to Prayer and Practice workshop, the Rev. Katie Gooch invited participants to shift their perspective from focusing on what is missing to discovering what God has already placed within their communities.
Pathways to Prayer and Practice Launches Inaugural Cohort
We are excited to announce the 10 congregations that will participate in the first cohort of Pathways to Prayer and Practice, an initiative of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment.
Overwhelming Response to Pathways to Prayer and Practice Application
Clergy and lay leaders alike are eager to deepen children’s experience of worship, try new approaches, and grow together in how we help young people fall in love with Jesus.
