Be Part of Something Transformational

The Pathways to Prayer & Practice initiative invites congregations across the Diocese to explore how children can be more fully welcomed into the heart of worship. Through year-long learning cohorts, churches will have the opportunity to reflect, experiment, and grow in a supportive community of peers.

The first cohort will launch in late 2025. Applications are not yet open, but now is a great time to learn what to expect and consider whether your congregation might be a good fit.

What to Expect

Churches selected to join a Pathways cohort will:

  • Participate in a year-long learning experience
  • Receive coaching and support from diocesan leaders and content experts
  • Join monthly gatherings with other churches
  • Experiment with new worship practices that engage children and families
  • Attend an Annual Summit for deeper connection and collaborative learning

Each participating church will form a small team that typically includes:

  • One or two clergy or ministry leaders
  • One or more families from the congregation who are invested in worship and formation

What You’ll Focus On

Cohort churches will explore five areas of worship through the lens of children’s participation:

  1. Scripture – Helping children hear and share God’s Word
  2. Prayer – Encouraging children to grow in prayer and lead with their voices
  3. Eucharist – Inviting children to experience and understand the sacred meal
  4. Music – Celebrating children’s voices through sound and song
  5. Sacred Space – Creating environments that honor children’s presence in worship

This is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about trying new things, reflecting on the experience, and learning along the way in community.

Is This Right for Your Church?

You don’t need a children’s choir, a full-time formation leader, or a large budget to be part of this work.

What matters most is:

  • A desire to grow in how your church welcomes children into worship
  • A willingness to try new ideas, even if they feel unfamiliar
  • A team of leaders and families who are open to learning together

Whether your church is already experimenting or just beginning to ask the questions, you are welcome here.
