On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Canon Heidi Kim worshipped at both Historic Christ Church in Weems and Grace Church in Kilmarnock.
The Rev. Glenn invited Canon Kim to witness the thriving yard sale ministry at Grace Church, a centerpiece of their outreach efforts. The previous evening, Canon Kim and Rev. Glenn had dinner with some of the leaders of the yard sale ministry – co-chairs Lucia Schoelwer and Cliffe Harris, and Volunteer and Treasurer Jeff Irby to hear about the history of the yard sale, how it evolved during COVID, and the tremendous impact this ministry has had on the surrounding community.
Canon Kim shared “If there was ever a ministry that reflects our invitation to Love Jesus, Embody Justice, and Be Disciples, it is the incredible work that Grace Church and its many volunteers are doing in partnership with other churches, denominations, and non-profit organizations. What an inspiring example of discipleship in our diocese!”
