Bishop Harris Ordains Three New Deacons at St. George’s, Arlington

On March 1, 2025, at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Virginia, The Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris ordained Kara Laughlin, Kris Rose, and Joy Warburton to the Sacred Order of Deacons. Bishop Harris presided over the service, and the sermon was given by the Rev. Dr. Judy Fentress-Williams.

Kara, a senior at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), is sponsored by St. James’ in Leesburg and serves as a seminarian at St. Matthew’s in Sterling. Joy, also a VTS senior, is sponsored by Trinity in Arlington and serves as a seminarian at Holy Cross in Dunn Loring. Kris, a 2024 VTS graduate sponsored by St. George’s in Fredericksburg, is currently serving as a seminarian at St. Christopher’s in Springfield.

These new deacons, God willing, will be ordained as priests in September 2025, marking another step in their faithful journeys of service to the Church.
