This year, we’re encouraging more young people to be part of it and we want YOU there!
What Is a Youth Delegate?
As a Youth Delegate, you are an official member of Annual Convention. That means you have a seat, voice, and vote alongside the other delegates from across the Diocese.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Meet other young people from across the Diocese.
- Share your perspective and ideas.
- Take part in special activities planned just for youth delegates.
- Vote on important matters affecting our church.
- Connect with clergy, lay leaders, and other young people.
- Participate in convention committees.
And don’t worry — you do not need to be a Convention expert! We’ll have a designated volunteer available throughout Convention to help explain what’s happening and answer your questions.
We’re Making Convention More Youth-Friendly
This year, we’re intentionally creating a bigger experience for our youth delegates, including:
- A Youth Delegate party.
- A reserved youth table at lunch.
- A youth-focused workshop with Bishops.
- Opportunities to meet and connect with other youth delegates.
Whether this is your first Convention or you’ve been before, there’s a place for you here!
Who Can Serve?
A youth delegate must be under 21 years old at the time of election and be elected by their Regional Council. If you’re interested in serving or want to learn more, talk to your parish or regional leadership about becoming a Youth Delegate.
Your voice matters.
The Diocese of Virginia wants young people to be part of the conversations and decisions shaping our church. Don’t just hear about what happens at Convention. Be part of it.
