Shenandoah County will be on full display in the Ballroom of the Virginia House at Shrine Mont on Saturday during Shenandoah County Heritage Day 2025, co-hosted annually by the Shenandoah County Historical Society (SCHS) and the Shenandoah County Library Archives.
On August 6, 1925, Bishop William Cabell Brown consecrated the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration in Orkney Springs, VA as the cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia and began the journey for what we now know and love as Shrine Mont.
Shrine Mont is turning 100 years old this year! Come visit and celebrate with us during our Homecoming Weekend! We have lots of fun activities planned including a parade, ole time carnival, live music, and much more. Check out the weekend itinerary below with all the details and stay tuned for more additions.
Join Bishop Stevenson and special guest the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration!
