Jackson Davey, Bartolo Natoli, and Theodore Renaud were ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Aug. 2 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. The Right Rev. Gayle E. Harris, Assistant Bishop of Virginia, presided over the ordination.
Jackson Davey is sponsored by St. Paul’s, Alexandria. He is a recent MDiv graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary who is currently serving as the Mid-Atlantic seminarian at Emmanuel, Brook Hill in Richmond. He is the interim director of youth formation there.
“Jackson believes all children have a say in their faith and seeks to empower them to discover their own sense of spirituality,” his web bio says. Jackson graduated from the University of Montana in 2018. He enjoys hiking, reading, and nerding out about great coffee.

Bart Natoli is sponsored by St. Stephen’s, Richmond. Bart is a recent graduate of Bexley Seabury Seminary’s online MDiv program and serves as associate professor and chair of the classics department at Randolph-Macon College.
“Today was a blessed, spirit-filled day shared with family, colleagues, and so many lovely friends,” Natoli wrote on social media. “It is overwhelming (but in a good way) to wrap my head and heart around this ordination. I am so very blessed! Thanks to all who were with us in body and in spirit!”

Ted Renaud is sponsored by St. Aidan’s in Alexandria. He is a 2024 MDiv graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary and has been serving as lay ministry associate with Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton. The congregation there greeted his ordination with joy.
“These three transitional deacons will, God willing, be ordained priests in spring 2026,” said The Rev. Dr. Sarah Kye Price, Vocations Minister for the diocese. “All those ordained priests—or perhaps even bishops at some point—first are ordained and serve as deacons, as they live deeply into being the icons of Jesus’ own service ministry. These three will have permanent calls to serve as priests before then, but those calls are still in the process of being solidified at this time.”
