The Rev. Mary Cushing was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons by the Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris on August 10, 2024, at St. Thomas, McLean.
Mary was sponsored by St. Michael’s, Arlington, and has been serving at St. Thomas, McLean. After she completes her time at St. Thomas, Mary will be assigned a placement in the Arlington Region, making her the first deacon to serve that region. Mary and the Archdeacons of the Diocese are discerning the details of her diaconal placement.
