Each year, the Sister Servants Team coordinates a drive to provide Christmas gift bags to residents at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women (VCCW). The bags contain essential items—shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, composition books, puzzle books, pens, and pencils—and are intended to let residents know that they are recognized and supported by the community.
After last year’s drive was paused due to a lack of funds, organizers have set a fundraising goal of $5,000 for 2025 to cover the entire population of the facility. So far, $2,200 has been raised, and the team is seeking additional support from local churches and individuals.
The project is a collaboration among several area churches working together.
