The following is a letter from the Standing Committee in advance of Saturday’s Special Convention to elect the 14th Bishop Diocesan.

As Christians, we put our whole trust in someone who bore the brunt of the worst that we can dish out, as individuals or as a “system”, and who rose victorious from that greatest of all betrayals, betrayal unto death.

Yesterday, evil in all its murderous destruction visited Buffalo, New York, where an 18-year-old with tactical gear and an assault rifle deliberately took the lives of 10 people and seriously injured three more.

This afternoon the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Virginia announced the decision of a majority of its members not to add any petition candidates to the slate for the election of the 14th Bishop Diocesan.
