Trinity Church, Arlington will benefit from a $70,944 grant from Virginia Housing through VEREP (Virginia Episcopal Real Estate Partners). The congregation has been engaged in a discernment process about the future use of their church property. The grant will support a feasibility study that explores potential ministries such as senior affordable housing and child care as well as redesign options for the sanctuary. The grant will cover costs such as appraisal fees, title searches, environmental surveys, capital needs assessment, zoning requirements, massing studies, and alternative uses and financial options.
This award will allow Trinity to move from wishful thinking about the future to securing hard data about what is possible, all without cost to the congregation.
VEREP President Nina Janopaul points out that this is the second congregational grant that VEREP has secured for diocesan churches, following on an earlier feasibility study grant for Christ Ascension in Richmond. She states, “VEREP is honored to bring resources — dedicated trustees, grant funding, and talented consultants — to support Trinity in its search for a new mission with its real estate.”
