The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna was named a Sustainability Champion of 2025 by the Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS). FACS is made up of 250 faith communities in Virginia who are working to develop local solutions to climate change. Holy Comforter received the award for a solar project and progress toward net zero greenhouse gas emissions.
In accepting the award, Holy Comforter’s rector, Fr. Jon Stand, explained how the generosity of Victor and Joan Brown and the Brown family provided much of the funding for the solar project. He also thanked the many individuals involved who overcame the project’s many challenges. Holy Comforter is looking forward to its next sustainability project.
