On June 19, 2024 at The Union of Black Episcopalians Annual Conference, The Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris received the Bishop Barbara C. Harris Prophetic Witness Award for courageously proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and boldly championing the least, the lost, and the left out.
“I thank you UBE. I am a child of UBE. I was nurtured, I was taught, I learned strategy, I learned to persevere, I learned strength, and I was supported by UBE”, said Bishop Harris.
She credited The Chicago Chapter of UBE for how she entered The Episcopal Church. Bishop Harris closed with a quote from Bishop Barbara C. Harris, “Always remember that the power behind you is greater than the task ahead of you”.
