Grants Are Available to Congregations for Habitat Restoration Projects

by | Feb 2, 2026

The Creation Care Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia is pleased to announce its 2026 Grants Program, which is open to all congregations in the Diocese. The purpose of this grant program is to assist parishes in restoring habitats on their properties by planting native plants, and to promote the importance of native plants to the community and the parish. Please inform congregants who may be interested about this opportunity.

Specific Guidelines for this program, an Application form, and a Budget Request spreadsheet are available by sending an email to the Creation Care Committee. Grants for individual congregations can be made for amounts up to $1,000.

The deadline for receipt of Applications and Budget Requests is 5:00 pm on April 13, 2026. We anticipate making award announcements in May 2026.

The Application and Budget Request must be submitted electronically to the Creation Care Committee.

Please direct questions about the grant program or about the application process to the Creation Care Committee.

The Creation Care Committee of the Diocese of Virginia encourages, empowers, and educates the people of the diocese to reconnect Christian discipleship and mission with the ecology of nature. Our main focus areas are Habitat Restoration and Spiritual Resilience, but we are also interested in Energy Efficiency and Conservation, and Policy and Advocacy. We are always looking for new members so that we can broaden our impact. Please email the Creation Care Committee if you are interested in membership.
