Representatives from more than 20 dioceses within The Episcopal Church, along with two dioceses of the Anglican Communion, gathered in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, for the Global Mission Conference Missio 2025. The Diocese of Honduras co-sponsored the event with the Global Episcopal Mission Network (GEMN), an association of dioceses, agencies, congregations, seminaries, religious orders, and individuals celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Focused on “Mission with Jesus,” two conversation catalysts shared their thoughts about Evangelism, Empowerment, and Climate Action. Table discussions followed. Participants from the Diocese of Virginia included the Rev. Dr. Nancy D. Searby, a deacon at St. Francis, Great Falls, and Alice Taylor, from St. John’s, King George, who has enjoyed a long-term relationship with Hondurans sewing together. Nancy, who serves as vice president of the GEMN board, provided a reflection on climate action alongside Bishop Julio Murray of Panama, who serves on the Anglican Environmental Network.
In addition to the conference itself, highlights included worshiping at Catedral del Buen Pastor, visiting Our Little Roses Home for Girls in San Pedro Sula, and Iglesia de Espiritu Santo and School in Tela. Education is a key priority of the Diocese of Honduras.
