Education for Ministry (EfM) is a formation program based on study and practice in theological reflection which invites the people of God to discern and act in faith through small group reflection. EfM seminar groups create space for curiosity, community, and looking at life through the lens of relationship to God. Participants practice theological reflection using the Bible and other texts to answer their baptismal call to lay ministry.
EfM seminar groups are preparing to meet in 25 parishes around the Diocese of Virginia. Many groups are forming now to begin this fall, with some beginning in January. Groups meet for 36 weeks online, in-person, or in a hybrid meeting configuration. There are fees for tuition and books to participate in this program. More information about EfM can be found on the diocesan website and EfM website. To get involved and sign up, contact diocesan EfM Coordinator, Jane Dowrick, at efmvirginia@gmail.com or 804-334-0117.
