The John Shelby Spong Lenten Speaker Series & Lenten Lunches
Honoring the legacy, spirit, and witness of the Right Reverend John Shelby Spong—a fearless voice for a Christianity that is both intellectually rigorous and compassionately lived—the Bishop Spong Speaker Series carries forward the vision of the historic “Lenten Lunches,” while offering a fresh and relevant twist.
This five-week series is designed to foster rich and meaningful dialogue around the themes that shaped Bishop Spong’s life and ministry and that remain deeply relevant today: biblical scholarship, progressive Christian thought, justice, and equality. Each week will feature a dynamic speaker who will invite participants to think critically, engage openly, and reflect on what a vibrant and inclusive faith can mean in our time.
