Free Concert at St. George’s featuring BST Band

St. George’s Episcopal Church invites the community to a free concert on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 3:00 pm, featuring BST Band: Black History Celebration Music of the African Diaspora. Donations at the door are accepted to benefit the Absalom Jones Fund. The concert will be held in the church’s historic nave, located at 905 Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg.

Come and celebrate Black History Month with the jazz funk and world music of the BST Band. BST Band presents a fusion of world music shared by musical friends brought together by husband-and-wife musical duo, Becky Stewart (piano and vocals) and Slam Stewart (drums), and their sister, Tanyah Dadze (keyboard synthesizer and vocals) who most recently toured the world with local artist “Gaye Adegbalola and the Wild Rutz”. Added to the musical mix are the flavors of Puerto Rico with Daphne Cashion on Saxophone and Jorge Rosario on bass. To top off this eclectic mix of musicians, world-renowned Conguero, Alberto Limonta Perez (or “Limon”), provides the authentic Afrocuban flavor or “sabor afrocubano” on the Congas.

Known for its lush acoustics and welcoming atmosphere, St. George’s offers a year-round concert series showcasing both local and nationally recognized artists. This performance promises an afternoon of “beautiful music in a beautiful space,” continuing the church’s tradition of musical excellence. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted at the door to support our music and ministry at St. George’s.

The Absalom Jones Fund for Episcopal HBCUs supports two institutions affiliated with The Episcopal Church since the 1800s: Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Voorhees University in Denmark, South Carolina. The concert is offered free to the community, with donations gladly accepted at the door to benefit the work and ministry of The Absalom Jones Fund.

St. George’s Episcopal Church is a vibrant and inclusive spiritual community. “No matter who you are, whom you love, or where you’ve been, there’s a place for you here,” says the church’s leadership. With a commitment to service, justice, and peace, St. George’s welcomes all to experience its diverse worship and music offerings.
