DESCRIPTION:In 2022 John Philip Newell began a second series of annual retreats to address the deep spiritual yearnings of this moment in time and to help give birth to new beginnings in our lives and world. \nThe Great Search 2 is the second of a three-part series of annual retreats led by the Celtic teacher John Philip Newell and his colleague Cami Twilling in which we explore the search for awareness\, the search for spiritual and physical wellness\, and the search for love. \nThis retreat will include a special evening dialogue between John Philip Newell and Diana Butler Bass\, included for all retreat participants. The two authors will engage in a lively and hopeful conversation about the themes of The Great Search. Lunch is provided up the hill in the Dining Hall. After lunch the break-out sessions are back to Tucker. Two Tucker workshops are indoor/outdoor\, weather permitting\, and those participants should wear sensible shoes\, and bring your favored bug repellent! \nParishes are encouraged to send 3 participants\, to be able to cover the three break-outs offered. But do not stay away just because there’s only one of you! Everyone’s participation is valued. Everyone’s effort is important. SUMMARY:Sacramental Citizenship
DESCRIPTION:Sacramental Citizenship will take place from the evening of April 12\, 2024\, to the afternoon of April 14\, 2024 at Roslyn Conference and Retreat Center in Richmond\, VA. Participants will stay on site at Roslyn and will eat\, study\, talk\, and pray together. While many participants likely live in the Richmond area\, we ask that you plan to stay at Roslyn for the duration of the retreat; proximity aids community. The fee for the retreat is $200 and includes your accommodation\, meals\, and retreat materials. Scholarships are available; please indicate a need for financial assistance when completing the registration form. \nSacramental Citizenship will be led by the Rev. Cate Anthony\, Associate Rector at St. Stephen’s in Richmond. Cate’s ministry has focused intently on cancel culture\, building community across lines of difference\, and practical Christian ethics in our contemporary context. Cate is a fellow of the Episcopal Church Foundation; this retreat is the capstone of her fellowship project. Cate will be joined by Jessica Church\, the Political Director at Public Wise\, a national organization with an unyielding commitment to building and protecting a multiracial democracy.
