SUMMARY:Walking With the Enslaved Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the worshiping communities of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church\, you are invited to register for Walking with the Enslaved: A Pilgrimage toward Truth\, Reconciliation\, and Hope in Richmond. \nThrough this immersive\, faith-based experience\, participants engage with four centuries of Richmond’s racial history. On this journey\, we confront the ways that white people distorted Christianity to justify colonization\, slavery\, and the construct of racial identity while recognizing the role that Christian faith played for African Americans to inspire resistance\, hope\, and liberation. By uncovering the truth of this history\, we seek to inspire racial healing and equip communities to enact Jesus-centered justice in the future. \nThe pilgrimage occurs in two parts on separate\, consecutive days:  \nSaturday\, June 13th from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM:  An experiential walking tour of historical sites\, including lunch\, that begins and ends at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (815 E. Grace Street). Participants stand and walk for extended periods during the site visits\, covering two to three miles overall with a bus transporting participants between some of the sites. \nExpect varying terrain and levels of difficulty\, including dirt trails\, cobblestones\, and moderate inclines. Please inform us of any mobility concerns ahead of time. \nSunday\, June 14th from 1 PM – 3 PM:  A facilitated group reflection at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church (2900 Hanes Ave.) from 1 PM to 3 PM. \nThe group reflection is integral to the pilgrimage experience. It is expected that anyone who signs up for the pilgrimage is committed to participating on both days. \nPilgrimage Fees & Support\nThe registration fee for the two-day pilgrimage is $35 per person. We offer scholarships so that cost is never a barrier to participation. \nThe true cost of offering this pilgrimage is closer to $100 per person. If you are able\, we warmly welcome additional donations to help sustain the program and make participation possible for others. \nParticipation is limited to 35 people. \nDetails on preparation and logistics will be provided to participants one week before the pilgrimage. \nFor more information or to inquire about scholarships\, please contact Dr. Glyn Hughes\, Program Director.

SUMMARY:Catching Hope: The Hidden Spiritual Wisdom of Fishing
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join Father Pete Nunnally and the Diocese of Virginia’s Creation Care Committee July 21 online at 7pm to discuss his newly released book Catching Hope: The Hidden Spiritual Wisdom of Fishing (Broadleaf Press\, 978-1506497808). \nFishing is an exercise in hope. The fisherman only knows that they will be at the water’s edge\, watching and waiting\, anticipating the moment when the pole bends and something wild joins the story–drawing them into the ancient dance with the natural world\, our true home. Let’s walk to the edge of the water together\, toss out our lines\, and wait to see what happens. \nIt is a transformative\, courageous book that invites deep introspection\, self-reflection and courage to step into questions that we may not have asked ourselves. This book offers each of us an opportunity to rethink our way of approaching faith and life in vibrant and loving ways towards ourselves and others. It is a book you will return to. \nFr. Pete is an Episcopal priest\, author and outdoor faith leader who has spent his life and ministry at the intersection of wilderness and the sacred. To answer this call\, he founded Water and Wilderness church in Washington DC – a fully outdoor congregation for anyone who finds God in the natural world – and has built a devoted national following through retreats\, speaking engagements and social media with 64K Instagram\, 30K Tik Tok and 11K Substack subscribers. \nClick here to learn more about Fr. Pete and the Water and Wilderness Church. \nTo join the online Zoom discussion\, please click here. \nFor more information\, or to submit any questions for Father Pete in advance\, please send us an email here.

SUMMARY:All Saints Choir Camp
DESCRIPTION:All Saints Choir Camp is a week of singing\, musicianship\, friendship\, faith\, and fun for children entering 2nd grade and up. Younger readers are welcome\, too. \nThis year introduces a new Beginner Choir Track\, designed especially for younger and first-time singers. Afternoons feature adventures around Richmond\, recreation\, crafts\, and time with new friends. The week concludes with a Sunday morning service at All Saints\, where campers will be joined by adult members of All Saints Choir and sing much of the music learned during the week. \nWhether your child already sings in a choir or is just discovering a love of music\, All Saints Choir Camp is a joyful\, encouraging place to grow as a musician\, build confidence\, and make lasting friendships. \nRegistration deadline: August 7\, 2026 \nLearn more and register.

SUMMARY:Voices of Freedom Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Voices of Freedom Tour\, part of the Virginia 250 programs celebrating the semiquincentennial of our country\, features historic parishes in Hanover County\, including some Episcopal parishes. The tour begins with the original site of the Upper Church of St. Paul’s Parish\, now Slash Christian Church\, and ends at The Fork Church\, which is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year. \nOther stops include Brown Grove Baptist Church\, representing the Black congregations of Hanover County; Historic Polegreen Church\, the center of the Dissenters movement\, which laid the groundwork for the Great Awakening; the Old Chapel at Randolph-Macon College; and Scotchtown\, which has a strong Quaker connection through the family of Dolley Payne Madison. \nRe-enactors will be at each site talking about their roles in establishing religious freedom in the 18th century\, which led to the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786 and disestablished the Church of England in Virginia. \nThe six-stop tour begins at Slash Church in Ashland and covers approximately 45 to 50 miles through Hanover County. \nView the full tour details and printable map.
