SUMMARY:Triangle of Hope Youth Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:The Triangle of Hope is an Anglican-led effort to form covenantal community between the dioceses of Liverpool (England)\, Kumasi (Ghana)\, and Virginia dedicated to transforming the long history\, ongoing effects and continuing presence of slavery in our world through repentance\, reconciliation and mission. Each one of our Dioceses was directly involved in the dreadful Slave Triangle. We remember and acknowledge with sorrow that human beings were captured and enslaved for financial gain with no regard for their dignity and humanity. We view this history with great pain and in penitence before God\, the God who wills in Christ to bring freedom and justice for all. \nLearn More

SUMMARY:The Gospel of Revolution: Preaching\, Politics\, and the Episcopal Church
DESCRIPTION:Social upheaval. Political polarization. Religious division. Sound familiar? That was the world of the American Revolution. We take independence for granted today\, but the very idea of an independent United States was a difficult and deadly debate in these former British colonies–and in what would become the Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kevin Laskowski will present on the history and theology of American independence\, looking at Revolutionary-era sermons from Anglican clergy and others. We’ll then worship according the prayer book then in use at the time–with the congregation voting whether or not to say the prayers for the king… Join us for The Gospel of Revolution! \nThe Rev. Kevin Laskowski serves as priest-in-charge at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Centreville\, Virginia. Kevin holds a BA in Government from George Mason University and an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary. In 2024\, he appeared on the game show Jeopardy!\, winning three games and competing in the Tournament of Champions. He enjoys card magic\, industrial metal\, and the fun things people put at the end of their bios. He likes to think he would have been a Patriot in the Revolution.

SUMMARY:A Spiritual Call: Creation Care’s Essential Role in the Life of the Community
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join an important conversation with Payton Hoegh\, Program Director of The Center for Spirituality in Nature\, on July 15\, 7 pm. Hosted by the Habitat Restoration Working Group of the Creation Care Committee\, we will discuss how we can reimagine our idea of church spaces. We will answer the question of why the work of Creation Care is rooted in our Christian identity and community building. Through contemplative practices and Payton’s passion for finding the Divine in Nature\, we will gain a deeper understanding of our Spiritual Call to Creation Care\, the natural world\, and discipleship in it. Because we will look at application for varied age groups\, this webinar is valuable for all parents\, Christian formation leaders\, clergy\, and laity. Register online to receive the zoom link by July 13. The event will be recorded. \nRegister Via Email

SUMMARY:Walking the Wilderness of Cancer
DESCRIPTION:A diagnosis and treatment of cancer can send us into the wilderness\, whether we want to go there or not. During our weekend retreat\, we’ll talk straight about our experiences of cancer and our experiences of God in the wilderness. In conversations\, creative expressions\, and worship\, we’ll explore the biblical tradition of lamentation\, discovering how our grief tills the barren ground in which hope and praise can take root and grow. Prayers of healing and hope will frame our weekend and bind us close to the beating heart of God. Led by Bishop Susan Goff who is thriving after walking the wilderness of breast cancer during the pandemic\, while she was leading the Diocese of Virginia. She is author of The Desert Shall Rejoice: Psalms from the Wilderness of Breast Cancer.

SUMMARY:Fall Book Study: Migrant God: A Christian Vision for Immigrant Justice\, by Isaac Villegas
DESCRIPTION:Canon Hill and the Ministry for Racial Justice and Healing invites you to share in fall book study of “Migrant God: A Christian Vision for Immigrant Justice” by Isaac Villegas.  In a world grappling with complex issues of migration and belonging\, Villegas offers a powerful and deeply theological exploration of God’s presence among migrants and our call as Christians to advocate for justice\, welcome and the dignity of every human being.
