DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) and the possibility of interest group and/or chapters of UBE in the Diocese of Virginia? This informational meeting is for you! \nThe Union of Black Episcopalians\, first founded in 1968 as the Union of Black Clergy and Laity\, is a powerful witness within The Episcopal Church. With over 55 chapters across the US\, Caribbean\, Canada\, Africa\, and Latin America\, UBE advocates for Black leadership\, combat racism\, and celebrate Black voices in the church\, and is open to anyone committed to uniting the diverse cultures\, concerns and gifts of Black Episcopalians by providing preparation and encouragement for living the Baptismal Covenant and fully participating in the mission and governance of The Episcopal Church. \nDuring the virtual gathering you will have the opportunity to hear from the Reverend Kim Coleman\, National UBE President\, who will share insights into the organization’s mission and impact\, and Mrs. Helen Sharpe-Williams\, Mid-Atlantic Regional President\, will discuss the UBE’s role in the region.  Following the UBE discussion Bishop E. Mark Stevenson and Bishop Gayle E. Harris will join UBE leaders in a virtual commemoration of the Reverend Peter William Cassey and Mrs. Anna Besant Cassey. \nThis is an open event\, so spread the word and come learn more!  \nRegistration and Information.
